Continuing education and training in the international context

Both the policies and also the practices of the Swiss continuing education and training system are influenced by international developments. As a member of UNESCO, Switzerland has committed itself to implementing different international recommendations and education agendas in continuing education and training (CET).

At the practical level, exchanges in international networks are vital to be able to identify future developments at an early stage and guarantee knowledge transfer from and to Switzerland.

The role of SVEB

Since its foundation, SVEB has been active in international networks and associations and cooperates with Swiss authorities to implement international education agendas. Here it is involved in strengthening continuing education and training worldwide, introduces its expert knowledge and represents the interests of Swiss CET providers with the following general objectives:

  • support of the Swiss educational authorities in the implementation of international agendas;
  • representation of the interests of Switzerland in international networks and associations;
  • identification of international developments at an early stage and transfer of knowledge to the CET stakeholders in Switzerland and from Switzerland to other countries.
