AI: Gaining new insights through international exchange

International cooperation helps to advance the field of continuing education in Switzerland. This was demonstrated once again by the Erasmus+ projects Digitalli and Block.Ed.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way we work, learn and develop competencies. AI offers significant opportunities for adult education: it can support personalised learning, increase efficiency in educational processes and help organisations respond to changing competency requirements. At the same time, it raises important questions regarding quality, ethics, data protection and the role of adult education providers.

Webinars brought experts together

To shed light on these opportunities and challenges, SVEB dedicated a special focus to AI in March 2026. As part of the Erasmus+ projects DIGITALLI and Block.Ed, it brought together practitioners, researchers and experts from the field of adult education in a series of webinars to exchange experiences and discuss current developments.

The events made it clear that AI is no longer a topic for the future, but a reality that continuing education providers must already grapple with today. Discussions centred on how institutions can strengthen their staff / employees’ AI competencies, how AI can support teaching and learning processes, and how new approaches such as ‘micro-credentials’ could shape future learning pathways.

Cross-border exchange

One key insight ran through all the activities: the successful integration of AI depends not only on technology, but also on people, organisational culture and a commitment to continuous learning.

International cooperation projects such as DIGITALLI and Block.Ed play an important role in this process by promoting the cross-border exchange of knowledge and best practice.

Movetia and SVEB jointly support European mobility and cooperation projects in the field of adult education.

SVEB encourages stakeholders in continuing education

Further examples of successful collaboration with Movetia include the AI4AL project, which supports the mindful integration of AI into adult education, and TALE, which focused on transformative education. Furthermore, international projects have established frameworks for micro-credentials and developed support for positive psychology in adult education. (Further projects can be found here.)

SVEB encourages educational institutions to take advantage of this opportunity and is happy to assist with submitting applications or bringing project partners together. The international exchange webpage explains what is on offer and how the process works.

In this way, we can work together to further develop further training – not just in relation to AI.
