How can actors in continuing education operate sustainably? SVEB has published the Climate Check – a practical tool that aims to promote the climate-friendliness of continuing education institutions and support them in developing into sustainable organizations.
In collaboration with myclimate, a practical instrument was created that systematically helps institutions assess their own climate-friendliness. The Climate Check is intended to motivate decision-makers to engage with the climate footprint of their institution, enable them to conduct a self-evaluation, and, based on this, initiate climate-relevant activities.
The tool is divided into two parts:
- Guide (Part 1): Provides background information on promoting the climate-friendliness of continuing education institutions.
- Toolbox (Part 2): Contains practical tasks with all the necessary tools for institutions to assess their starting point, formulate goals, and develop effective measures.
The Climate Check is based on the “whole institution approach.” This holistic approach examines the entire institution and evaluates six different areas of action to see how climate-friendliness can be increased. These areas are:
- Management and Governance
- Staff and Professional Development
- Educational Content and Programs
- Infrastructure, Operations, and Mobility
- Networks and the Educational Landscape
- Communication
In this way, all levels and work areas of the institution are involved in the Climate Check process, while also reaching participants and the wider public.
