TALE: practical tools for transformative learning

For two years, SVEB worked on the Erasmus+ project TALE ‘Transformative Adult Learning for Green Transition’. The transnational and EU-funded project aimed to explore the possibilities of transformative education for sustainable development. It was completed at the end of 2024 – with useful products.

The overarching aim of TALE (Transformative Adult Learning for Green Transition) was to learn more about transformative learning and to make the findings accessible to all interested parties. In a first step, all partners did a lot of groundwork and research on the topic of transformative learning and created a theoretical foundation.

The practical part of the project was based on this: in the six partner countries (Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Greece and Switzerland), adult education institutions worked with grassroots organisations to develop and test learning opportunities with a transformative character.

Seed workshop in Zurich

The SVEB, in collaboration with SILVIVA, an environmental education organisation, and Grünhölzli, a garden collective, conducted a workshop on seed diversity. The workshop in March 2024 offered participants an opportunity to explore the topic of seed diversity just before the start of the gardening season. The findings from the collaboratively organised events in the various project countries were collected, evaluated and processed.

The theoretical and practical parts of the project have given rise to various products on the topic of transformative learning for sustainable development:
