How can microcredentials in adult education be designed to be trustworthy, transferable and recognised? This question was the focus of the final conference of the European Block.Ed project in Bonn. SVEB also participated in the project as an associated partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together with European project partners and experts, the project participants presented the findings at the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) in Bonn and discussed prospects for the further development of microcredentials. It became clear that sustainable solutions require collaboration between learners, education providers, businesses and other stakeholders. Quality assurance, validation and technical solutions must be tailored to the specific context of application and geared towards the actual needs of those involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A key finding was that didactics come before technology. Blockchain and digital certificates can help to make qualifications secure and verifiable. However, clearly defined learning outcomes and valid procedures for assessing the competencies acquired are crucial for building trust in microcredentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such international projects are important and valuable for all those involved. Whilst Swiss organisations can already participate in Erasmus+ projects and take advantage of mobility opportunities under certain conditions, However, stakeholders from Switzerland are not able to initiate their own projects and also have only limited access to European funding opportunities and networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Full association, as is currently being discussed in Parliament, would change this. Swiss continuing education organisations could develop their own innovation and pilot projects, join consortia and participate directly in European calls for proposals. At the same time, they would gain better access to European networks, tools and expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty-three organisations, including, for example, Swiss Universities, the Swiss Commercial Association and SVEB, have therefore written a letter of support to Parliament. This is particularly important as a decision on the funding of Switzerland\u2019s participation in Erasmus+ could be taken as early as the autumn session. In the letter, the group asks Parliament to support the funding application. \u201cAssociation with Erasmus+ is crucial for the further development of Switzerland as a centre of education, as well as for the fields of sport and youth,\u201d the letter states.
