Upskilling on the job<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In many companies, the workplace is naturally a place of learning. However, it cannot be taken for granted that what has been learned flows directly back into the work process. For a specific group of employees in Switzerland, this is particularly inadequate: people whose basic skills are no longer sufficient due to rapid technological development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workplace: A starting point for learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The retention of their jobs is directly linked to further education, which qualifies them for further employment in a more demanding environment. This involves concrete content and feasible steps; the situation at work is the starting point for learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning content includes, for example, understanding work instructions, the creation of electronic work plans and much more. All basic skills are addressed: From oral and written communication to everyday mathematics and ICT skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because this learning is based on actual situations, the effect on the daily work process is immediate, as long as the transfer is organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A federal funding priority<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Companies that are willing to offer such a support to their employees can receive funding from the state. The Federal Council has recognised the importance of basic competences and approved the corresponding funds by establishing it as a funding priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a milestone in further education policy and at the same time an opportunity for education providers. To seize this opportunity, they need working models and support. The SVEB offers both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GO as a method and instrument<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The conceptual framework of the funding programme is the GO model. It is available to providers as a method and a working tool.
