SVEB Professional Practice Trainer Certificate

The SVEB Professional Practice Trainer Certificate provides you with the basic skills to train individual adult learners in the work place. With the extension module, you can simultaneously obtain the SVEB Trainer certificate and prepare for the Federal Trainer Diploma.

Target Group

The SVEB Professional Trainer Certificate is primarily for part-time trainers of adults both in and out of the workplace.

Professional Skills

You will acquire the ability to prepare, teach and evaluate on-the-job training and learning support for individual adult learners based on given concepts, curricula and teaching materials within your field of expertise. Persons who have already obtained the Vocational Trainer Certificate can have it credited to the course.

The Competence-Resource lists provide an overview of the (professional) competences and the resources required for the development of those competences (pre-existing knowledge, skills and abilities).

Candidate Profile

Candidates are expected to be professionally competent in their  field of expertise. Previous experience in working with learning adults makes for a successful candidate experience. Hence we strongly recommend that at  latest while attending the module, you work with your own individual adult learners.

Requirements

In order to be awarded the SVEB Professional Practice Trainer Certificate you must attend the “One-on-One Learning Support to Adult Learners” module (ToT PPT) at a Swiss institution of continuing education and provide proof of practical experience.

ToT PPT ModuleThe module consists of 14 days (90 hours) spread over 4 months, plus 165 hours of independent study. The certificate of competence for this module consists of a) a written record and evaluation of one-on-one professional practice teaching or learning guidance b) evidence of professional skills in on-the-job training or learning guidance (more detailed information can be obtained from the chosen training provider).
Evidence of Professional Practice TrainingYou need to have 150 hours of experience in one-on-one adult training and learning support over at least two years. Of those 150 hours, 50 at most can have been teaching groups.
If you do not have enough teaching experience at the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance. Once you have the necessary experience, you can obtain the certificate from the training provider (usually up to five years after the end of the course).

In the module description for the ToT PPT module you will find relevant information on the requirements for course participants, on course content and on the general conditions. These are also interesting for training providers who design courses they wish to have recognised.

The Professional Practice Trainer Certificate in the ToT modular system

The module “One-on-One Learning Support to Adult Learners” (ToT PPT module) contains parts of the total of five ToT modules leading to the Federal Trainer Diploma (level 2 of the ToT modular system). It corresponds in part to module 1 and entirely to module 3. It is valid five years for application to the Federal Trainer Diploma.

Alongside the ToT PPT module for the SVEB Professional Practice Trainer Certificate, you can also attend an extension module to simultaneously obtain the SVEB Trainer Certificate with fewer requirements.
